Special Collection on Recent Advances and Trends in Optical Metamaterials and Metasurfaces
Submission deadline: March 30, 2018

DESCRIPTION

Optical metamaterials (and their 2-D versions, usually referred to as “metasurfaces”) are artificial composite (dielectric or metallo-dielectric) materials that can be engineered so as to attain fine control of light-matter interactions at the nanoscales, as well as to exhibit exotic responses (e.g., anomalous reflection and refraction) that are not usually found in conventional materials.

Metamaterial science and engineering nowadays constitute one of the most transformative and fast pacing research fields, with a variety of potentially disruptive applications including communications, defense, and chemical/biological sensing.

This Special Collection of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology aims at showcasing the recent advances and trends in the modeling, design, fabrication, characterization and applications of optical metamaterials and metasurfaces.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Novel physical phenomena
  • Advances in modeling and simulations
  • Experimental characterization
  • Nano-fabrication approaches
  • Quantum, nonreciprocal, and topological effects
  • Nanoparticles, nanophotonics and nanoplasmonics
  • Nanocircuits and nanoantennas
  • Active, nonlinear, tunable, and reconfigurable structures
  • Applications to communications, security and safety, optical sensing

Manuscripts submitted to this Special Collection will be peer-reviewed before publication.

Please submit your manuscript by March 30, 2018 to be considered for publication.

Photoptics 2018
25 - 27 January  2018 - Funchal, Madeira - Portugal

DESCRIPTION

Optical systems are ubiquitous in modern society, from medical sciences to space exploration, telecommunications, information processing and numerous industrial and military applications of all kinds.
This 6th edition of PHOTOPTICS will feature 3 different tracks on Optics, Photonics and Lasers, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. Researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in any of these fields are welcome to join us in Funchal, Madeira and present their work on new methods or technologies, advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques, as well as general survey papers indicating future directions. http://photoptics.org/
